Critique on Radiographic Density of Digitized Radiographic Weld Images Using Curve Fitting

Radiographic images can provide quantitative as well as quantitative information if they are subjected to densitometric analysis. Digital radiography consists of four major steps which include X-ray detection, digitization, image processing and display. The digitization process varies from device to device and may suffer variations even when the same digital equipment is used throughout time. Also there exists a problem in the image format the image registers fine details and also which radiation source Iridium (IR-192) or X-ray will be the best. So it requires a high level emphasis to evaluate the suitable image format and radiation source after the conventional image processing steps have been accomplished. A curve fitting method involving radiographic density for a single image taken with two different image formats and two radiation sources have been tried and produced considerable results in deciding the factors to be considered for secure digitizations.
